The transition from Year 6 to 7, Year 10-11 or to a new school or even a new educational system can be a very stressful time for students. To aid students in making a successful transition a number of support programs are in place. All new students in Years 7-10 are tested for literacy and numeracy skills on enrolment to identify strengths and weakness and identify additional support required.
Year 6-7 Transition takes place during Term 4 in Year 6 and the first week of Year 7. Activities such as peer support and demonstration lessons are designed to help students understand high school, meet new friends and become familiar with the school’s physical environment. Students are not placed into their Year 7 class until week 2 of Term 1.
